Novel conductive ceramics and subassemblies

Euclid develops novel conductive ceramic materials with unique properties to enable new strides in performance. Not only do we develop these innovative materials. We put them into new RF designs and develop usable products for the beam and accelerator community.

Low-loss conductive ceramics with 1,000X better conductivity

Our novel ceramic materials deliver a conductivity that is 1000X better than alumina. Plus they are frequency tunable. We develop innovative materials such as the MgTi-Oxide ceramic (photo on left) with customizability from 125,000GHz to 31,000Ghz (photo below).

Features:

  • Tunable conductivity (10e-9 – 10e-12 S/m)
  • Conductivity 1000X better than alumina (10e-12 S/m)
  • Standard sizes up to 200 mm diameter
  • Tan (delta) 10e-4 @ 1 GHz
  • Perfect for charge-free RF windows and SRF couplers

We also build innovative components that take advantage of the unique features of our conductive ceramics.

Ultra-high crystallinity diamonds and applications

Euclid has established the first U.S.-based capability to grow HPHT and MPE CVD diamonds delivering new standards of performance, both for our own products and our customers in the high energy physics community.

Our diamond materials are also used in next generation electronics (high power switches, high frequency devices, high temperature devices), quantum sensors (biology & condensed matter systems, magnetometry, basic research) and quantum information processing. Photo: our custom-built CVD reactor.

L-Band and X-Band RF windows: no more aluminum oxide issues

Aluminum oxide is a commonly used material but it has its problems. Surface charging and multipacting create well-known power and frequency limitations. Surface charging can result in reflection issues, overheating and even catastrophic failure. The novel Euclid material solution in our RF windows is low cost and eliminates these issues, allowing more power and higher frequency operation.

L-Band RF Windows

  • Low Cost
  • Customized coating reduces surface charging and multipacting
  • Operating frequency: 1300 MHz
  • UHV compatible
  • Peak power 20MW
  • Avg power 30kW
  • VSWR <1.1

X-band high power RF windows

  • Similar to above, except for X-band (9.4 GHz)
  • Peak Power 1.5MW
  • 0.1% Duty Factor
  • 1.5 kW average power

L-BAND UHV RF window

Euclid has provided L-band RF windows using advanced ceramics technology for Argonne National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and Los Alamos National Laboratory, among others.

Main features:

  • UHV (10 -10 Torr)
  • Thin film TiN coating to reduce multipacting
  • Optimized fabrication process to minimize cost
